Static pipe-bursting is an ideal method to replace existing underground
water, sewer or gas lines. Pipe-bursting involves the breaking of an existing pipe, expanding the broken pipe shards into
the surrounding soil while simultaneously pulling in the new carrier line, usually polyethylene pipe (HDPE). Small tonnage systems (up to 50 tons) are capable of bursting 2" – 8" pipe, while large tonnage systems
(up to 175 tons) can burst pipes ranging from 4" – 24". Pipe-bursting can replace fracturable pipes like cast
iron, clay tile, concrete, reinforced.
HammerHead
Pneumatic Bursting System, Engineered for Sewer replacement. Pipe bursting employs high-powered piercing tools with
special bursting heads to fracture old service lines while pulling in new replacement lines, and it can be done without affecting
expensive surface structures. HammerHead Mole bursting heads can be removed at the end of the line, allowing the piercing
tool to return to the entrance pit through the new service line. Because it eliminates an exit pit, excavation costs are cut
in half. Pipe bursting is easy on adjacent utilities because it follows the existing pipe path and requires minimum excavation.
This allows you to work in congested areas without hampering normal traffic flow.
